Milan is an ideal city break destination for a weekend getaway. It boasts excellent connectivity with almost every city in Europe and offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit all budgets. I first visited Milan in March 2017, but unfortunately, the weather was not in our favor, and it ruined our plans. As it was my first overseas trip, I wasn’t very impressed with the city at that time. However, four years later, I decided to give it a second chance. To ensure that weather would not be a problem this time, I visited Milan in July, and it turned out to be the perfect time to visit.Milan is the best weekend city break idea. Accommodation in Milan
Our main purpose of the trip was to visit Varenna, Como and Bellagio, three beautiful towns on the shore of Lake Como. On the first day, we visited these towns, but our itinerary to Como was not the best one. We were too lazy to plan it properly, which resulted in an unwanted 2-hour ferry ride.
If you’re planning to visit all three towns in a day trip, it’s best to start with Como, which is the closest to Milan. It only takes 40 minutes to get there by train, and a one-way ticket costs 6β¬. Bellagio comes next, and then Varenna, which is the farthest one. The towns are pretty close to each other, and you can travel between them by either ferry or bus. From Varenna, you can take a train back to Milan.Varenna, Como and Bellagio were the whole purpose of the trip, so we spent the first day to visit these wonderful towns on the shore of Lake Como. Our first day of the city break in Milan concluded with a breathtaking sunset that illuminated the sky in the heart of the city, right in front of the magnificent Duomo di Milano. As fashion enthusiasts, we couldn’t resist the temptation to explore the Vittorio Emanuele Galleries, a paradise for every fashion lover. However, what truly captivated me was the unparalleled beauty of the sunset, which made me appreciate the city’s charm even more.
