This trip had been meticulously planned months in advance because, for a city like NYC, time is never enough. With so much to explore, I created a detailed 7-day itinerary to cover the most iconic landmarks while savoring the city’s unique atmosphere.
If you’re planning a visit, it’s crucial to balance your available time with the attractions you want to see. Unless you’re staying for more than a week, compromises are inevitable. However, my one-week itinerary was enough to make me fall in love with New York City irrevocably.
This guide will help you discover what you can do in seven days in NYC and how to make the most of your time without feeling rushed.
7-Day New York City Itinerary
Day 1: Central Park & Rockefeller Center
1. Columbus Circle
Start your day at this major intersection where Broadway, Central Park West, and other key avenues converge. Nearby is the Trump International Hotel. While there’s not much to do here, it serves as a perfect gateway to the Central Park.
2. Central Park
A short walk from Columbus Circle brings you to Central Park, an iconic urban oasis. While some may say, “it’s just a park,” it’s all about perspective. Visiting in late November, the fall colors were breathtaking. Explore iconic spots like Gapstow Bridge, Wollman Rink, Bethesda Terrace, and Bow Bridge. You’ll feel like you’re stepping into scenes from countless movies, including Home Alone.
3. The Met (Metropolitan Museum of Art)
Located near the park, The Met houses over two million works of art. Entry to the main hall is free, but tickets to the galleries cost $30. Even if you’re not an art enthusiast, the museum’s cultural significance and architecture make it a worthwhile stop.

4. Rockefeller Center & Christmas Lights Tour
